This family business has its farm in Castillo (Duarte Province). More than 60% of all Dominican cocoa is grown in this region.

Valdez Cacao was founded in 1961 by Porfirio Valdez. He started small, bought land with the money he earned, and slowly developed his company into one of the leading farms in cocoa cultivation.

Valdez Cacao is socially committed to the local population. She provides jobs, offers social services, built two aqueducts, a baseball field, and connected the elementary school to the internet.
